Brian Cramer

Biography

Brian is an operating partner at BVP Forge, which is the unique combination of a private equity firm for growth-oriented, self-sustaining businesses paired with access to BVP’s renowned venture platform.

Before joining BVP Forge, Brian was chief executive officer of Smarsh. He transformed the business into a global enterprise player and grew more than six-fold through a mixture of organic growth and add-on acquisitions. Continuously driving a focus on technology and product capabilities led to Smarsh being named the Gartner MQ Leader for Enterprise Information Archiving for the 3 consecutive years. Brian focused heavily on company culture by emphasizing respect and equity, resulting in recognition for Top 100 CEOs for Large Companies.

Prior to Smarsh, Brian was the chief operating officer at Granicus, a govtech software business, and the chief of staff at Chirotouch, an electronic health records software business. Earlier in his career, he served in a mixture of corporate development and product management roles for various technology companies.

Brian holds a B.A. in international business from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Outside of work, Brian is constantly trying to catch up to his three daughters and supporting all of their activities.
