Jason Putorti

Jason Putorti joined BVP as Designer-in-Residence in 2009. Based in the Menlo Park office, he supports the firm’s portfolio companies in designing intuitive, engaging, and intriguing web applications.

A three-time entrepreneur, Jason is best known for his work as lead designer at Mint.com, the award-winning online personal financial management service acquired by Intuit (Nasdaq:INTU) in November 2009. Earlier, he founded Novaurora, a print and interactive creative agency, where he served as CEO as it grew into one of Pittsburgh Magazine’s “Six Hot Ad Agencies” with such customers as Coldwell Banker and Berner International. He also consulted to the interactive division of the brand agency Fitting Group. Previously, he was co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of College Prowler, a publisher of individual college guidebooks, with responsibility for web strategy and technology. Jason came to College Prowler from 3N2, a baseball products company, where he was CTO.

Mint.com launched in September 2007, winning the Techcrunch 40, and continued to receive recognition. It won four Webbies, and was twice named PC Magazine Editors' Choice, honored at the World Economic Forum in Davos, and praised by the New York Times, BusinessWeek, Fast Company, the Wall Street Journal, and many others.

Jason holds a BS in Computer Science and Mathematics from University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a number of honors including the Studio Arts Award and three University Scholarships. At the age of 19, Jason enrolled in the Parsons School of Design’s MFA program before leaving to found College Prowler. Currently, he serves on the advisory boards of the TechCrunch '09 winner RedBeacon, a local services marketplace, and the civic participation site 2Gov.
